All of us experience stress at our workplace, but some days can be particularly hard. Whether you’re being affected by something related to your work, the winter weather’s getting you down or you’re dealing with something in your personal life, these are five things you can try and keep in mind to help you get through a rough day.
- Five-Minute Power Meditation
If your mind is jammed with negative thoughts, just put a pause to whatever you’re doing, get into a relaxing position, close your eyes and simply exhale long and deep. Follow this with similarly long and deep inhalation. Continue doing this for at least five minutes. You’ll be surprised how effectively this can help relieve tension.
- Fake It Till You Make It
This can be very difficult to do, but sometimes merely putting on a smile and acting confident and capable when you’re feeling the complete opposite leads to an improved attitude. Your positivity will attract more positivity.
- Be Present
Take one day at a time. One hour at a time. Break down your to-do list and just zero in on what you have to do at that moment, and make your way through your tasks. You’ll be surprised how hyper-focus can help distract you from what may be bothering you and help you get through what you need to get done.
- Treat Yourself
Indulge yourself in something you enjoy or give yourself something to look forward to throughout the day. It could be something as simple as your favorite coffee drink or making lunch plans with a friend.
- Remember that bad days and good days follow each other
Although your current situation is tough, remind yourself that it will pass and you will feel better. There’s always a tomorrow, which brings with it the promise of new opportunities. Good days and bad days are nothing but episodes that you have to pull through!
