For years, Camp Colman and Camp Orkila have welcomed families back to camp with fun weekends such as Mother’s Day Family Camp, LGBTQ Family Camp, and more. In the past, these one-of-a-kind experiences have been limited to fall, winter and spring to accommodate the summer camp adventures that make families fall in love with camp in the first place.
All of that is about to change. For the first time in a history spanning over a hundred years, Camp Colman and Camp Orkila are teaming up to offer the first annual Cornet Bay family camp taking place this July.
Taking place at the Cornet Bay Retreat Center, this family camp is all about fun, family and exploring the beauty of Deception Pass State Park together!
Here are 5 ways Cornet Bay Is Sure to Bond Families:
1. Laugh
Sometimes we can get so wrapped up in our busy lives that we forget to laugh together. Playing and exploring together in a low-stress, fun-focused environment like Family Camp means kids can relax and so can you. Don't be surprised when inside jokes and lifetime memories are built!
2. There's Something for Everyone
We know that families don't always have the same interests, so at Cornet Bay Family Camp, we've created opportunities for everyone to explore what they're interested in. Whether it’s participating in the camp fun as a family, or taking a bit of “me time” while camp staff facilitates fun “kids-only” activities, there’s a chance for everyone to spend time doing what they love.
3. Encourage a lifetime of exploring
In our everyday lives, we're so focused on the tasks that must be done rather than doing what we want to do, leaving little time to try new things or discover new passions. At family camp, kids and parents alike can explore new activities like beach exploration with marine naturalists, traditional camp activities like archery and crafts, and options for exploring the wonderful area around Deception Pass State Park.
4. Unplug to Unwind
We already know the harm being tethered to our phones can cause, but did you also know that it can harm family bonding? For children and adults alike, phones can shift social engagement outside of the family and into the digital realm. Not at Cornet Bay! This is the perfect chance to disconnect from technology and reconnect with the ones you love most.
5. No Planning Required
You don't need to plan meals, pack a tent or even plan activities. We have you covered. Just show up with your loved ones and leave the rest to us.
