Camp Orkila is an incredible place to grow up. It’s also not a camp that can be fully experienced in one week alone. For many of our participants, Camp Orkila is the place that they return to year after year, learning new skills each summer and building friendships that last a lifetime. With every summer that your camper returns to Orkila they will experience new activities, develop new relationships, build new skills, and take on new challenges. As your camper grows, the Camp Orkila experience grows with them.
Our relationship with camp changes over time. A week of traditional camp is an amazing way to learn what it’s like to be away from home and to build confidence in a new setting. As we get older, however, we may find ourselves looking for new challenges and experiences to take us farther out of our comfort zones. Orkila’s Teen Expedition and Leadership program aims to provide participants familiar with camp a way to set new challenges for themselves as they take part in adventures away from Camp Orkila.
As you prepare for your visit this summer, it’s also the perfect time to think about your camper’s future at Orkila. Upon entering 8th grade many different opportunities open up at camp. Our Leadership Progression is a great way to help them use their Orkila experiences to build lasting leadership skills, develop new life-long hobbies, and spend their summer preparing themselves to take on new roles at camp and beyond.
