Troy struggled to fit in and make friends in social settings, suffering from ADHD and other behavioral issues. Most of his summers were spent with his grandparents, but this summer Troy’s mom enrolled him in the Y’s Summer Staircase program at West Seattle Elementary—made possible by donors like you.
Y staff worked with Troy and his mom to meet his unique needs, making Troy feel welcomed in the group setting. Throughout the summer, Troy began to open up and develop his social skills, try new things like swimming, and learned to love reading.
By the end of the summer, Troy had nothing but positive stories to share of his time in the program. Because of the caring, supportive staff Troy worked with over the summer, he now has more confidence, can more easily make friends, and is doing well in his classroom this year.
