Seven years ago, the YMCA of Greater Seattle started working toward a vision to ensure that all kids have access to meaningful growth experiences in the outdoors. With long waitlists in our camps and a growing population of youth in our region, we saw a need for more camp facilities to provide formative outdoor experiences.
Recently, we made a giant step towards realizing this vision. We are pleased to share that we closed on the purchase of 500 acres of land that will become our first new overnight camp in over 100 years. Many thanks to the Norcliffe Foundation and the Nisqually Indian Tribe, whose support has made this first step possible. As we look ahead to purchase the remaining 1600 acres at this site, we will need many others to walk alongside us to fully realize our bold vision for the benefit of youth and families for generations to come. We hope you’ll join us in the effort.
