Few moments feel more special than seeing the sun set from a secluded island beach. Paddling throughout the San Juans, you might easily find yourself within a boat’s length of sleek porpoises and playful seals. Seeing the San Juan Islands by sea kayak is a once in a lifetime opportunity for many, but it’s just the beginning for teen participants on a Camp Orkila sea kayaking expedition.
A summer of adventure can start right here at camp. Whether new to Camp Orkila, or a returning camper, setting off on a kayaking expedition allows for teens to build new skills and make lasting friendships in one of the most beautiful sea kayaking destinations in the world.
No prior experience required, teens new to the sport of kayaking only need to come to camp ready to put a paddle in their hand. With experienced instructors to teach all the required skills needed for these trips, teens will return from their expedition with a strong sense of accomplishment, confidence, and growth.
Just like its resident camp programs, Camp Orkila’s kayaking expeditions place a big emphasis on fun and exploration alongside building new technical and leadership skills. After setting up camp, time is carved out for exploration of the forests and beaches of each new island in addition to fun expedition games and activities that make the most of each location.
As a stand-alone experience, or coupled with a week of resident camp, a San Juan Kayaking expedition will make sure that your teen comes home having had a summer full of adventure and friendship.
