Students discover what they love through our proprietary curriculum centered around STEM, career-connected learning, arts, literacy, education, and diversity and global learning. Discovering the world is fun and safe with the Y, the experts at helping kids grow and learn in spirit, mind, and body.
Check out our September theme, You, Me & Our Community. Kids find their place at the Y and in their community this month through hands-on activities including the ones featured below.
STEM
Graph a Wall Hanging
In this collision of art and math, youth will create a three-dimensional wall hanging representation of a two-dimensional drawing using graph paper as their template for inspiration.
Career-Connected Learning
My Dream Job
In this activity, youth will write creatively as they discover a path to their future dream job.
Arts
Collaborative Art Branch
Art doesn’t have to be a solo experience! In this fun activity, youth will work together to design, paint, and decorate a beautiful Collaborative Art Branch, straight out of nature!
Literacy
Name Poem Acrostics
In this writing activity, youth will have the opportunity to explore acrostic poetry as they write and share about themselves and learn about their new friends at the Y!
Education
Whole Wheat Blueberry Muffins
Our young chefs will have a chance to prepare, bake, and eat Whole Wheat Blueberry Muffins, which are healthy AND delicious! At the Y, education is fun and intertwined through all of our activities. Kids have so much fun, they don't know that they are learning!
Diversity & Global Learning
How Far Have We Come?
Youth will discover their roots as we explore all the places our families have come from over time, from all over the world!
