Once a year, we may close a local Y for Facility Improvement Week, a week full of projects to improve your Y experience. Check out our 2024 improvement weeks below.
Auburn Valley YMCA
Closed: Sunday, September 22, to Sunday, September 29
Reopens: Monday, September 30

Closed: 12:00 pm Sunday, September 15, to Wednesday, October 2

Our Projects
Gym Floors Resurfaced with new Pickleball lines
You’ve told us how much you love the gym – and pickleball. We’re refinishing the floors to make them look their best, adding all new lines, and adding lines for three pickleball courts to improve the game for our players.
Fitness Center Upgrades
We know how important the fitness center is to your health and wellness experience. We’re replacing flooring for a self-workout area and adding turf for sled use.
Aquatics Center Cleaning
You’ve mentioned you love the pool. We’re deep cleaning both pools so they are ready for water fun for you and your family when you return.
Locker Room Deep Clean
You’ve told us how important the locker rooms are for your experience. We’re deep cleaning the locker rooms and adding new partitions for increased privacy.
Kids Zone and Adventure Zone Deep Clean
We love serving your kids in our Kids Zone and Adventure Zone! We are deep cleaning the climbing structure, carpet, and all toys.
Facility Deep Cleaning
We know cleanliness throughout the facility is important to you. While all these projects are happening, we’ll be deep cleaning the entire facility for you.
Meredith Mathews East Madison YMCA

Our Projects
Gym and Group Fitness Studio Floors
We’re refinishing the flooring to make it easier to move to the beat in group fitness classes and improve your shot with your basketball game.
Locker Room Improvements
You’ve told us how important the locker rooms are for your experience. We’re deep cleaning the locker rooms and replacing broken lockers.
Improved Air Flow
We know how important it is to have the right room temperature and air flow while you’re working out. We’re installing a new Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system and cleaning the air ducts.
Deep Cleaning and Updates
You’ve told us about the importance of a fresh and clean facility. We’re deep cleaning the entire facility, replacing water fountains, and touching up paint as needed to uplift your overall experience throughout the facility.
Northshore YMCA

Family Gym Reopening
We’re scrubbing and buffing the floors and reopening this space on September 7! Thank you for your patience while it’s been closed.
Aquatics Center Cleaning and Repairs
You’ve mentioned you love the pool. We’re deep cleaning the pool and replacing broken and missing tiles so it's ready for water fun for you and your family when you return.
Main Gym improvements
We know many of our members love pickleball. We’re buffing and sealing the gym floor and painting new lines, including pickleball lines!
Fresh Colors and Lighting
Paint and lights bring a freshness to any space. We’re painting the pool foyer, Total Health Center, Club Room A, and other spaces. We’re also adding new and brighter light fixtures to the Total Health Center and Multipurpose Room.
Deep Cleaning
You’ve told us you like a clean facility, so we’re taking this seriously. We’ll be deep cleaning the entire facility while you’re away. We’re also cleaning the exterior windows, buffing the concrete floor, and deep cleaning the carpets.
Parking Lot Upgrade
The one space nearly all our members use is the parking lot. We’re fixing the holes, paving, and painting new stripes.
Dale Turner Family YMCA
Closed: Monday, August 26 to Monday, September 2
Reopens: Tuesday, September 3
Adventure Zone
Closed: Monday, August 12 to Friday, September 6
Reopens: Saturday, September 7
Drop-in care for ages 5 to 9 will take place in the Teen Room during this time.

Locker Room Improvements
You’ve told us how important the locker rooms are for your experience. We’re deep cleaning the locker rooms and adding new shower partitions for increased privacy.
Adventure Zone and Teen Room Updates
We love serving your kids in our Adventure Zone and Teen Room! In the Adventure Zone, we’re making structural improvements and updating the flooring and paint for a refreshed experience. The Teen Room will receive an overall refresh.
Aquatics Center Cleaning
You’ve mentioned you love the pool. We’re deep cleaning both pools so they are ready for water fun for you and your family when you return after Labor Day.
New Flooring
We know how much you love the gym and wellness studios. We’re refinishing the flooring to make it easier to move to the beat in group fitness classes and improve your shot with your basketball game.
Deep Cleaning and Signage
We know cleanliness throughout the facility is important to you. While all these projects are happening, we’ll be deep cleaning the entire facility for you and installing updated signage to improve wayfinding and accessibility.
