Maddie graduated in 2020 and participated in Youth Legislature through Washington YMCA Youth & Government. She now attends the University of Washington and is pursuing a degree in Political Science. Maddie was the Youth Governor for the 73rd Youth Legislature and led the first Youth & Government week during the onset of Covid-19 when Youth & Government was a virtual program.
Q. Describe a time post-graduation where skills and abilities you learned from Youth & Government were needed and used?
A. I had the opportunity to do advocacy work as a member of the UW chapter of NARAL. I was able to lead the advocacy team for my legislative district because of my experience in Youth & Government. Because of Youth & Government, I was confident advocating for what I believed in and help organize and lead my team!
Q. How has your Youth & Government experience shaped you for life following high school?
A. Youth & Government has helped shape my life in more ways than I could ever say! It helped to solidify that I want to study political science in school and let my passions come through. Youth & Government also helped me to be much more confident in myself, I cannot imagine who I would be without having found Youth & Government.
