Experiencing the Outdoors
Creating opportunities through camp and outdoor leadership programs to heal, connect, and grow tomorrow’s stewards of our earth.
Creating opportunities through camp and outdoor leadership programs to heal, connect, and grow tomorrow’s stewards of our earth.
Outdoor experiences and exploration of the nature around us is at the heart of mental and physical health, social and emotional learning, and should be a right for all children. The opportunities for youth and families to experience the outdoors have not grown at the same pace of population growth in Western Washington.
We believe that experiential outdoor education activities give youth essential tools to develop their fullest potential, and that shared outdoor experiences make families and communities more resilient. Your investment in camping and outdoor leadership will create opportunities to heal, connect, and create tomorrow’s stewards of our earth.
A growing body of research shows time spent in nature improves a person’s whole health and has positive effects for communities. Through day and overnight camp and wilderness expeditions, family camping, day hikes, and teen environmental service projects, we are committed leaders in helping everyone access and feel welcome in the outdoors.
"I didn’t feel like I belonged in the outdoors for most of my life. I didn’t see people who looked like me doing outdoorsy stuff. Working as a guide has given me the opportunity to show young people that the outdoors is a shared space for everyone, where they started saying “I can” instead of “I can’t.” Every kid should have that opportunity."
