The Y is where community happens. People of all ages and stages of life come together at the Y to laugh, learn, exercise, and collectively strengthen their community.
As city budgets are cut and high-rise development booms, there are fewer places than ever before to gather and connect with neighbors, for families to develop healthy habit together, and where people of all ages can improve their health and well-being.
As an organization that prides itself on its kindness and values, we cannot allow these inequities to stand. As leaders in health and wellness, and a long history of bringing people together, the Y is uniquely poised to be the solution.
Our current locations allow us to serve more than 250,000 people every year. Expanding the Auburn Valley and West Seattle Ys, and building brand new Ys in Kent, Sammamish, and the University District will provide community hubs, and proven, effective wellness programs to under-served communities. Your support will help 57,000 more people each year regain or maintain their health and connect with their neighbors.
The Y partners with prestigious health organizations like the Centers for Disease Control, Seattle Children’s Hospital, and LIVESTRONG® to provide chronic disease prevention programs to more than 1,800 people every year. We help people combating youth obesity, diabetes, and Parkinson’s Disease, and provide support for cancer survivors after treatment. Your help will allow us to expand these programs, hire additional multilingual activity and nutrition coaches, and serve more a diverse population at all our locations.
We provide more than $9 million in subsidized memberships and financial assistance to programs for those who need us most, thanks to donations from our caring members and community. Your support will give thousands more young people, families, and adults opportunities to take part in our programs and services, connect in a community hub, and find a place to belong, regardless of their financial situation.
