Dear Y Community,
The Y’s legacy of positive impact is built by volunteers, community champions, and donors. Jon Runstad epitomized this spirit of community, and we are deeply saddened by his recent passing. He was a builder of buildings. More importantly, he was a builder of communities. Jon and his wife, Judy, formed an endowment in Camping and Outdoor Leadership in 2009. Because of Jon and Judy, many young people continue to experience the joy, friendships, and personal growth and development at Camp Orkila and Camp Colman. Jon will be missed, but his legacy as a community changemaker will inspire us forever.
Fostering change can inspire new passionate leaders who care about advancing equity and justice for all, like our new Board Chair, Alison Prince. Change can also bring growth to our youth and families, including Pamela’s family, who forged lifelong connections at camp, and our recent Y Scholar graduates, who became the mentors their younger peers need.
We invite you to learn about all the stories your support has enabled over the last year by reading our 2022 Impact Report and the stories we’re still writing at our 35th Celebrating Community Changemakers Event featuring spectacular community volunteers. Please join us. Thanks to changemakers like you, the Y is where life-changing impact continues. In community and gratitude,
