Rowing Machines
- Simulates the action of rowing a watercraft
- Often called ergometers
- Uses up to 86 percent of muscles
- Low-impact, high-intensity, total body workout
- Appropriate for all fitness levels and ages
Elliptical Trainers
- Simulates stair climbing, walking, or running
- Light to high intensity cardiovascular workout
- Low-impact, weight-bearing form of exercise

Powered Treadmills
- Walk or run in one place on a moving platform
- Driven by an electric motor (not self-powered)

Assault Treadmills

Strength Equipment
- Resistance-based, plate or pin loaded stationary machines
- Users can generally lift more weight than with free weights

Barbells
- Free weights with long bar and variable weights at each end
- Allows free range of motion
- Bench press, deadlift, squat, or overhead press
- Uses stabilizer muscles to control the weight

Dumbbells & Kettlebells
- Dumbbells are short bars with weights at each end which can vary in size and are typically used in pairs
- Kettlebells resemble a cannonball with a handle that work legs, buttocks, and abs by swinging and controlling the momentum
